Hey everyone!
Welcome to my blog. My name is Iman, Iโm 28 years old, and a proud mama to a wild and wonderful 3-year-old boy. This space is where Iโll be sharing the real, raw, and sometimes messy moments of my journey as a work-from-home mom navigating career setbacks, comebacks, and everything in between.
๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ From Student to Business Owner
I stopped working in 2019 to focus on finishing college. During that time, I tapped into my creative side and started a hair business, selling custom-colored wigs. Things were going greatโuntil COVID hit. Like many small business owners, I was blindsided. Shipping costs soared, delays were constant, and I had to make the difficult decision to put my business on hold. Then, I found out I was pregnant.
๐ถ๐ฝ Mom Life & Losing Myself
After having my son, I became a stay-at-home mom for three years. While Iโm forever grateful for that time with him, I started to feel like I had lost myself. I missed having my own income, my own space, and honestlyโmy own identity outside of being “Mom.”
๐ผ The Job Hunt That Broke Me (Almost)
I started looking for work-from-home (WFH) jobs, thinking it would be easy. Spoiler alert: it wasnโt. I applied everywhere, got rejection after rejection, and even paid someone to revamp my resume and apply for jobs for me. Still nothing.
Thatโs when I decided to take control. I made it a routine: every morning, Iโd spend two hours applying for jobs, scrolling through WFH Facebook groups, and hunting online. I finally landed my first remote job in August 2024โa six-month contract. It felt like a win!
๐ฉ From First Win to Burnout (Again)
As that contract came to an end, I jumped right back into applying daily. I got a new jobโbut it was a nightmare. High call volume, low pay, and mandatory overtime with a toddler at home? I was drained. I promised myself Iโd never quit without a backup planโฆ but after a month, I physically and mentally couldnโt take it anymore. I gave my two weeks.
๐ช๐ฝ Hustle, Faith, & Divine Timing
Back to the grind I wentโapplying nonstop. Eventually, interviews were flooding in, and I started forgetting who I even applied to. I ended up getting two job offers in January 2025: one from Carnival Cruise and another from Medical Guardian. I wasnโt excited about either, but I was desperate. I needed income and I craved that feeling of independence again.
But thenโGod stepped in.
I had a last-minute interview with a company I didnโt even remember applying to. I was so over it, I barely prepped. But that ended up being one of my best interviews. Everything just flowed.
Later that evening, I missed a callโbut the voicemail changed everything. They offered me the jobโฆ at a salary equal to BOTH jobs I had acceptedโcombined. And the start date? Perfectly aligned with my return from a planned trip. It was nothing short of divine timing.
๐ง๐ฝโโ๏ธ Where I Am Now
Iโve now been with this company for 4 months, and itโs everything I prayed for:
- No micromanaging
- Light call volume
- Flexibility
- Peace.
It feels like home. Itโs exactly what I needed at exactly the right time.
๐ฌ Why Iโm Starting This Blog
Iโve been through itโdoubt, burnout, fear, rejection, all of it. And I know Iโm not the only one. So I created this blog to:
- Share my journey honestly
- Help others navigate remote job hunting
- Encourage moms (and anyone!) chasing flexibility and freedom
If youโve ever felt stuck, tired of hearing “no,” or unsure if things will ever fall into placeโthis space is for you. You’re not alone, and your breakthrough might be closer than you think.
Letโs grow, heal, and thrive together. ๐
Until next time,
โIman
